CABBAGE SOUP

    ¾ of a large head of cabbage, shredded in short pieces
    1 15 oz. can tomato soup
    1 4 oz. can of tomato paste
    1 12 oz. can of chopped stewed tomatoes
    1 medium clove of garlic, finely chopped
    1 tbsp. salt
    Black pepper to taste
    1 slice of smoked ham (about ¼ inch thick) diced
    ¾ tbsp. Hungarian paprika (hot or regular)
    ½ to ¾ tsp. ground red pepper
    2 tsp. sugar

Fill a heavy large soup pot ¾ full of water.  Add cabbage and remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Cover and let simmer for about one hour.
