Noted for its ability to conduct heat evenly and retain heat or cold twice as long as metal or porcelain cookware, this serving piece is hand-crafted from a solid block of soapstone. Soapstone is a material that is both tasteless and non-stick and has been used for thousands of years in cooking. It is noted for its durability and strength but is also decorative as well as practical.
Soapstone must be cured with oil and heat prior to use (instructions are included). This process permanently darkens the gray appearance of the stone, but makes the piece dark, lustrous, and more durable. After use, clean with sponge, water and mild liquid detergent. You may need to apply a little oil after using detergent.
The appetizer dish measures 5.5" in width, 11" in length, and 3.5" in height.
