Call them Meliors, French presses, plunge filter coffeemakers or coffee presses. No matter what they are called, this method of making coffee allows the full flavor of the coffee to permeate your senses. The filter spiral plate, filter mesh, and filter cross plate all serve to keep coffee grounds in place and stabilize the plunger.
Here's how the French press works: preheat the beaker with very hot water. Remove the water and place fresh medium-ground coffee in the beaker. Pour "just off the boil" water up to the top ring. Place the plunger unit on top of the water level and let steep for 3 to 5 minutes. When the coffee is as dark as you like, slowly push the plunger down pressing the grounds to the bottom of the beaker where they remain. Your aromatic coffee is ready to enjoy.
The French press coffeemaker has a cool touch handle and a glass carafe that provides maximum heat tolerance. It is dishwasher safe. Available in a 3 and 8 demi-cup sizes (3 oz. per cup). The 8-cup size is also available in red accents (see SKU #50.Press-R).
