The current fervor surrounding the Moscow Mule began here, on the website of a tiny little store tucked away in historic Emmaus, Pennsylvania. And while the Moscow Mule drink has been around for decades, it owes its re-energized popularity to this little copper mug, the vessel in which vodka, lime juice, and ginger beer were blended together back in the mid-1900s. When La Belle Cuisine-Fine Cookware began selling these mugs in 2007, the Moscow Mule again swept the country as a tasty, refreshing drink, particularly in the summertime. And, as we like to say, it's always summer somewhere!
The solid copper 16 oz. Moscow Mule Mug is nickel-lined and lacquered to resist tarnishing. Please note that the mug MUST BE nickel lined to prevent direct contact between the copper and the beverage. It's rather unhealthy otherwise. The recipe for the Moscow Mule drink is included with each mug.
- 2 oz. vodka
- 8 oz ginger beer (may substitute ginger ale if necessary)
- 1 oz lime juice (more or less to taste)
Squeeze 1oz. of juice out of a fresh lime and pour into your Moscow Mule Mug. Add ice. Pour in the vodka, then add cold ginger beer. Garnish with a lime wedge, if desired.
